Tuning idle for fuel economy with lean mixture

I try my luck again here in the economy forum as well, as I didn't get any response in the main forum:

Recently I saw this David Vizard video, where he talks about setting your idle up for minimum fuel consumption (starts at around 25:00):

He talks about air-fuel-ratios at around 15:1 at idle...
Has anyone done his method before? (air/fuel mixture for MINIMUM vacuum, then adjusting timing for MAXIMUM vacuum --> results in lean mixture with high timing)

Any thoughts on that method? Has anyone tried it? Does it affect general fuel consumption noticeably?

An O2 meter wouldn't hurt while tuning.

What air fuel ratio are you running at idle, higher than 15:1?

I run closer to 13/14. It’s idles a little better richer. If I remember right, I set the timing first, then adjusted the carbs. Please note, this is not on an i6. I am building a six but haven’t got this far. It will have bungs put in the exhaust 👍
