300 turbo with an automatic

I'm in the planning stages of replacing the 302/C6 in my 73 E200 van with a 300 turbo, and I want to run an auto trans. I'm thinking and AOD or an E4OD. Does anyone here have any experience running an automatic trans behind a 300 with a turbo? My goal here is to get an increase efficiency on the highway and give me extra power when towing. Just trying to nail down the transmission details and parts list to start making a budget. Thanks.

Thanks, good info there. I'm definitely going for an overdrive transmission. This is going to be my work van, so its going to be daily driven.
