What are the chances the crossflow and Barra share a manual bell housing?

None. Crossflow was the same as precrossflow, from 1967 onwards, untill the SOHC came out in 88, then carried through till 2016 the end. NOT the same as any of USA stuff. Crossflow starters are on the RHS from the rear, barra and SOHC are on LHS, this was done to allow the cat to get right up close to the engine. Sorry!
