Roller cam for 250

So it's done.
Dean Tigue sent me a couple of additional pics showing part of the mfg process that most of us regular joes get to see, so I thought I'd share them.

Here is one of my goofy assed roller getting it's distributor gear hobbed.

And here it is getting it's heat treating.
So the tale of the tape is that the cam cost 520 AUD.
I had him include two bronze gears at 90 AUD ea.
Air Freight cost 118.00 AUD to get it from there to here.
Total is 830.00 AUD, or (at the current exchange rate) 750.00 USD all in. (y)

Cotton's cam lift and HP were actually much higher than that by almost another 100 HP at the end of their/our engine development program in the mid 1980's. I worked for Headrick for 15 years through the height of Cotton's domination in the various classes he raced in. It was truly amazing what was done with a stock production block, head and crankshaft.

Well if I knew it was gonna delay the entire process another week to have him ream the bronze gears he's selling me to .530, I might've just had him send me the stuff, and I'd have my guy ream them up to size. But for 80.00 ea,....(Aus) I guess it's best I just wait it out. He emailed me today, and said the stuff goes out today. I'm not sure if that's Australian Thursday, or American Thursday, but no worries, It's not like I have an engine done yet to throw the thing in anyway.

He did send me more completion pics of the process,...(I guess it's not everyday that he gets to make a roller for a 250 I-6)

I've been watching daily to see if, and when he hits my account for the charge. Now that the piston guy has found a ring set for my new (now 3.700 bore) pistons, both Tigue, and Racetec will drain me like I was bitten by a vampire.

I can't wait.

if the 250 lifter bore is .874 as I think it is Crower makes mech roller lifter with a removable bar it is the Crower Cutaway Severe-Duty Roller Lifter series

on the back side there is a an Allen head screw that allows you to disassemble them or at least it looks that way in the picks and they can be bought in pairs

I am still a newb to these inline sixes so bare with me if I missed something

Cam showed up today!!!!
After only about a month. I get the single most important part of this build. Now that it is safe, and in my hands, I can worry about modifying the SBF timing chain to drive this thing.

It came in a box that was beat to hell, and literally had one end completely gone, (the same end that the two bronze gears were in) but everything was all good.

Ck out all of the "licked, and sticked" 2.60 AUD stamps. There must've been 50 of them.

The Does10's Cam gear swap. Goood one.

With the right Jap head, Aussie bump stick, best SBF timing chain set up and a hair dryer and Fox Box to cask the blast, this is an international affair.

I keep thinking of original 60's Falcon Tudor, the lowest price Ford
http://stripersurf.net/eoch/images/auto ... con-61.jpg,
the ultimate throwaway car.

Then the massive punt that your later Fox body was, with its heavily European unibody sub-framed IFS semi MacPherson strut coil sprung live axle, Euro stud spacing wheels, vari-ratio power rack and its 150 hours of wind tunnel work. It was a punt like the over simplified Falcon was back in 1960. A punt that worked.

Your little beast is too.
