Road Trip MPG 1983 Marquis

Fascinated to achieve 18mpg on a road trip with this car.

Normally I get 13mpg with mixed city and highway driving.

I took a 180 mile trip to meet my dad for the fourth of july weekend.

I even got the car up to 85 a few times.

Though for the fear of damaging my already leaking valve seals I stayed around 65-75mph most of the trip.

Do you know what engine trans and rearend combination you have? It sounds like about the right mpg for your car but on this forum were all aiming for improvements.

It's a c5 trans. I can get the gear ratios in a bit.

Running mustang turbines which are 15 inch 225/60/15

Thinking about doing an MSD blaster coil and mr gasket 925d advance spring after I get a rebuilt head on the car.

My dad commented that it sounded like it was missing while idling.

Didn't really notice any misses up around 65-85mph, but the engine really seems to struggle going up hills around 55 mph
