There’s An article in my local paper of crews demolishing 21 buildings that make up the old Torrington Bearing Campus in Torrington, CT. It’s all gone now.

Timken acquired its competitor, The Torrington Company, in 2003 for $840 million, doubling the size of the company and creating the world's third-largest bearing manufacturer at that time.
 
Yes, I used to work for them. Torrington and then Timken. Where it all started is gone. Torrington is now just a brand name stamped on a product.

Racers have been doing that for years to save their lives. Water under the tires at full tilt could be a disaster. Plus the clean up crew will not be happy. Higher water pressures, blown head gaskets, block flex, poorly made plugs etc. can make them pop out.
