All Small Six Drilled Throttle Plate on 1100 Carb

The Autolite 1100 carb on a '68 200 engine I'm working on may or may not be the original/correct carb for that engine. It is a non-SCV 1100 carb. It has one drilled hole of approx. 1/16" dia. through the forward portion of the throttle plate. Is this hole something that Autolite put into '68 and/or later 1100 carbs when new, or is it something a previous owner may have added?

A stock Autolite 1100 Carb wouldn't of been drilled on the Throttle Blade like that. You can see the 1100 Carb specs and parts diagram at this link. The ideal position of the throttle plate at idle is 1/3rd on the transition slot. If the throttle plate is higher a .060 hole can be drilled in the plate to allow more air at idle & it will allow the plate to return to the desired 1/3rd position on the transfer slot.
