All Small Six Toyota 2JZ Head for Inline 6??

This relates to all small sixes

I found this video on YouTube about this guy who is building a 2JZ head for the 200.

It’s so cool that he’s helping the 200 community.

How realistic is this?

He'd been better off starting with a Barra head as the example for a 4 valve conversion.
Bore and bolt spacing same as US 200; intake manifolds, exhaust manifolds, and cams already available.
He'd only have to come up with proper oil sealing for the cams, and convert to a belt drive system.

I am fairly sure that the bore spacing is the same on the barra but the head bolts are in different places.

Like this

The problem with the belt drive is distance to clear the OEM cover . There are advantages to leaving the original cam in place to drive the oil pump and distributor. If you don't use the original cam position you may run an external pump, like the Argentineans.

The Red engine is an Australian Built Holden with a Barra head mounted backwards, and runs the cam drive off the original timing cover. See the Balancer is spaced further away from the engine.

I am currently working on a 4 valve conversion for the old sixes based on the Barra, but I'm keeping progress under wraps until I have a working example.

Andrew,
You're doing what this guy should have done. He's doing a bunch of unneeded work to come up with a Barra head.

Keep us informed on your progress.

Will do Rocklord.

The Barra head has its pros and cons.

Its vary tall and wide due to ford modular style rocker and lifter arrangement. With a rocker ratio of 2.05:1 it means you can run more lift than a bucket head but that's not always necessary with a 4 valve arrangement. The factory casting is limited to .550-.600 lift due to the small diameter springs and available pocket depth on the exhaust. The valve angles are around 15 degrees which in 2 valve V8 world that's pretty good but in 4 valve designs 10 or less is better with a higher port angle.

There is plenty of developments happening with this head at the moment but I cant say too much for now.
