Howdy Guys,

So I'm upgrading to a C4 in my 63 Falcon and I'm trying to get a shift kit for it. I'm thinking of a transgo however I need to make sure it has a valve body thats compatible with the full kit. Currently everything points to an early green dot C4. I've been searching the interwebs and can't seem to find how to decode this thing entirely. So here's some pictures:

I can't find a PCW-V anywhere. I follow the 289 part, but i don't understand the 31-13B1. I think the B1 is buffalo plant, 1st shift. But thats all that i can figure out.

The C5 valve body is cool, but i can't tell if its early, or late 65 b/c apparently that matters. I'm just trying to upgrade it so its not quite as sloppy before i put it in the car.

Thanks guys!

I have no idea, but it is good to hear from you.
Good luck!
Yeah I'm still alive lol. The Ranchero is finally running well. Got the 2300 Sniper on it again with the Hyperspark. Apparently i was set up to fail from the start. Something happened to my DUI and it would advance WAAAAYY too much, my head was never machined right, and wasn't rebuilt properly. After machining, a new dizzy, and lots of JB weld, everything seems to work well. Just need to take it in to get dyno/final tune.

Now i got this other car I'm doing. Got my 63 for free and I'm trying to have them both running and driving for our big local car show in August.

I called Transgo and they said the C5 on the valve body was all I needed to use the 65-66 kit. Still curious as what a PCW-V tag means. All I can find is a 289-2V, no car.

Yes that was a 289 C4 Trans built in November 1963. There is also a way you can up grade that old Green dot C4 to a Select Shift type P, R, N. D, 2, 1, for a much better shifting Trans. All you need is to find a 1967 to 1969 Valve Body it bolts right into that case and then also put in the right TransGo Shift Kit too.
