T5 8 1/2" clutch

Hey guys, i've got everything needed for the install except the clutch. I'm using an 8 1/2" bellhousing from an early '66 200 manual. Do i just re-surface the flywheel (that i got from the manual donor car) and the original clutch for the V8 T5 and i'm good to go? Thanks for the help guys.

you will need a 4 cyl clutch (83-93 2.3L mustang with 5 speed)

I lucked out and the clutch that came with my free motor fit the T5 trans just fine (10 count spline)

the V8 clutch will be around 10" and will not fit under the pressure plate.

Yup you need the 87-93 3.2l mustang clutch disc, and the original pressure plate. Remember to have both steps of the flywheel surfaced.

Does anyone know what the spec's are for the space between the steps in the 8 1/2" flyweel? what should the inset be? I have and extra flywheel and would like to check it before I have it surfaced.

Alright I measured the two that I have one is 0.965 inches, and the other is 0.982 inches, sooooo I am not sure which is exactly correct, but it should get you in the ballpark.

Thanks Andrew. I will measure the one that I have for comparison.
Maybe the better question would be, How much compression there should be on the pressure plate to minimize slipage? Is there a spec for that?

I would imagine that there is some spec on that, but I don't know where you would find that, maybe a Ford shop manual?

Above post is correct, for a early bell housing and recessed fly wheel, you'll need the following:

85-89 4 cylinder mustang T5 clutch disc
65-66 6 cylinder recessed flywheel pressure plate
