All Small Six ARP head stud kits

This relates to all small sixes

I have a 200 block with a 250 head and am planning to pull the head soon to check a few things since I know nothing about what's in the engine and plan to get some work done on the head. There are different stud kits for the 200 and the 250 according to at least one site. I assume that the 250 kit is the correct choice for me but figured it's best to ask here first. Vintage Inlines only lists one kit for all sixes and the ARP site doesn't list any kits for our sixes. What say you? Any recommendations on the best source?

Studs are overkill for 99% of the small 6 applications. The OEM fasteners are perfectly fine, if you want to change them I suggest bolts not studs for stock to mild performance use.

No, you need the stud kit for the 200 engine. The 200 head and 250 head have the same dimensions.

Thanks guys. I'll check out what I have before buying anything. I'm not in a hurry on this.

When the 250 came out the 200 got the same head. There is no difference, head bolts the same but the 250 has longer main bolts than the 200.
If one is looking for a larger log head there is more 200/250 heads because they made the 200 longer after dropping the 250.

Running into the same issue. In the past i was playing with 302 and 351W, which ARP is happy enough to offer tons of options for, but not the 250... :( So now i'm going through the master parts catalog and the shop manuals to pick out all the bolts i'll need... Super annoying, but I'm stuck at home sick so might as well. My real curiosity is the front right head bolt thats got a stud on top, not too sure where i'll find that one

did you end up going with studs or bolts? how did it play out?

I have head studs and main bearing studs. No I did not need them for my mild build, I just like studs. I also changed the rod bolts to ARP.
Bought the studs from clay smith. They have them in sets for the 200.
